Hello client, today I will show you how to create addon domain name on your existing CPanel acount.
Before you create a addon domain make sure you are on a plan that support domain addon. Also note  that you cannot create an addon domain if the DNS for the site you are trying to add is not registered or yet to propagate.

When you create a addon domain, the file structure will be listed in your file directory as a subdomain. However, the addon domain URL appears like a primary domain.

To create an addon domain name, kindly follow the steps below;

  • If the domain name you want to add is not registered with us, point the domain to the hosting account you want to add it to by changing its nameservers. To learn how to do this, click here
  • Now login to your cPanel, click Addon Domains under Domains.
  • There are three fields cPanel asked for when creating an Addon Domain.
  1. New Domain Name: Enter the new e.g domainname.com, but do not include HTTP or WWW in the name.
  2. Username/directory/subdomain Name: cPanel will automatically suggest the name and we recommend you stick with the suggestion.
  3. Password: Fill in any password you want. This password is used for an FTP account which is automatically created by cPanel.

Your new domain has been successfully added. You can upload the website files to the specific addon folder which was created in the public_html folder.

Although addon domains do not have their own cPanel, you may still create email accounts, redirect, Softaculous installations, subdomains, etc. Web statistics for the addon domain can be found under the subdomain's URL in the statistics application in cPanel.
