Anyone trying to access such file or directory will face a security challenge to enter a correct username and password to view the protected contents on the website.

HOW TO ENABLE THIS FEATURE ON PLESK

  • Click the website & Domain on plesk dashboard
  • Click on add protected directory
  • Type in the name of the path of the directory you want to protect on your website
  • A optional box that will require you to enter a text that will be displayed to visitors who visit the password protected area.
  • Click ok and confirm.

For Linux plesk directory: the specified directory for password protection will be created if it does not exist before.
